Does anyone ever get that ‘too good to be true’ feeling? You know, that sensation where everything feels utterly dreamy. You only see happy outcomes ahead, that is, until you begin to question and second guess.
- ‘Why is everything working out for me?’
- ‘I haven’t worked hard enough to deserve this!’
- ‘Life just doesn’t get this good … does it?’
I’ve definitely had these whispers before. In fact, the better my life gets, the more I seem tempted to question why.
Until now that it!
I say NO MORE!!! Seriously, why are we so convinced that we don’t deserve to be happy or that genuine happiness is unattainable?
Perhaps because the media focus a lot on the negatives. The fires, the wars, the terrorist attacks, the homeless animals, the natural disasters, the thefts, political conspiracies. I could go on but we don’t have all freakin-day to spend on sadness? In summary, the media love to report on what’s going WRONG!
We are conditioned to look for the negative. When everything is going well we take it for granted and then as soon as something goes wrong we focus on that one thing.
Who’s ever stubbed their toe and though “bloody, fucking, rant, rant, rant what the actual Hell? Only to go on and spill their drink (oh piss it!!!). Shortly after that they go on to receive bad news? Coincidence? Perhaps, or maybe it’s a chain of events brought about by to many a negatively charged F-bomb. Nothing against a good F-bomb, but even I notice my limits. Yes, even Little Miss WTF has a threshold. Who knew?
For the past five months in particular, I have had a particularly positive headspace. I still get feelings of worry, doubt, resentment, anger but they are few and far between the feelings of trust, gratitude and hope. Over this time, my life has been filled with more opportunities than I could have ever visualised or expected.
Is it that I’m focussing on the good in my life and rationalising the not so good? Who knows, but it seems to be working.
Besides, everyone wins when I’m settled. I’m a tornado when I’m anxious and down. Erratic and distracted. Not awfully fun to engage with.
Take this example. The other day I was running (how unusual) and reflecting on all the events in my life that I had previosuly seen as – I’m going to be frank – a total shit storm. For those playing at home, thats technical speak for disaster. I chose to reframe these events as important lessons and catalysts for change. An hour later I met Damian Kristof, received the best chiropractic adjustement of my life (so far) AND found a vaporiser on sale for $50 cheaper than the ones I’ve been flirting with purchasing online (oh and I needed coconut water and the place with the vaporiser sold that too, saving me a trip to the shops).
Was this a reward for my shifted mind stuff?
The next time you find yourself questioning why something seems to be working out so well – just roll with it. Ditch the ‘this never happens to me’ attitude and start believing in bigger and brighter things.
You can change your world by changing your mind. It doesn’t mean that wars have stopped or that everyone’s fed. It means that in this moment you thinking about these things and feeling guilty for being luckier than those in desperate situations won’t bring peace or satiety.
We don’t have to be ignorant to what’s going wrong, but we can balance this global negativity with local positivity – the glorious things going on in our lives. Hanging with a friend, a particularly sensual coffee or the lucky coin you find in the bike lane.

Magnificent goods from you, man. I have understand your stuff previous

It’s truly very complex in this active life to listen news on TV, so I
only use world wide web for that reason, and get the most recent information.
I really like looking through a post that can make men and
women think. Also, many thanks for allowing me to comment!
Bless you, thanks for the glowing feedback xxxxx
