When I completed placement in a nutrition clinic as part of my university degree I felt uncomfortable in telling people what to do.
Prescribing supplements wasn’t my jam – unless someone was severely deficient or the supplements were food based.
I would cringe at the idea of prescribing a certain ‘diet’ – other than one based on whole foods, organic where possible and including lots of brightly coloured plant foods.
I was glad to be done with placement.
I love talking food and nutrition (duh). I adore educating and creating strategic recipes or serving suggestions. I live for practical self-care rituals and love getting my yoga teacher on by suggesting certain yoga moves (asanas) be included in the day for increased alertness, relaxation and an overall feeling of vibrancy.
But quite frankly, I’d rather be a nutritional consultant and counsellor than run expensive tests, prescribe pricey powders and/or pills and make recommendations based on the month’s scientific flavour as opposed to practical common sense suggestions that are individually considered and have stood the test of time.
Deep down, we don’t want to be TOLD what to do. We want to KNOW what to do.
- To trust our internal compass and stand strong in our foodie ethos.
- To read nutrition articles and KNOW whether something is appropriate for us or whether to just keep flicking.
- To feel excited and empowered when doing the grocery shopping. Not confused, perplexed and bewildered. Breakdown in aisle 4 anyone?
When we work together, that’s what you’ll get.
Your own personalised nutrition Q&A. Tell me what you want out of your diet and lifestyle. How do you want to feel? How DON’T you want to feel? What eating patterns have you flirted with? What are you leaning towards? Where are you confused? Wheat What the holy heck is the deal with gluten? You get the gist.
I am a qualified nutritionist with a BHSc Nutritional and Dietetic Medicine. I practice as more of a nutritional consultant and counsellor. I don’t prescribe, test or take on the role of medical professional.
I simply help you find clarity where there is confusion. Fun where there is boredom. Innovation where there is stagnation. Inspiration where there is procrastination. And a BIG LOVE for your IN-FUCKING-CREDIBLE body wherever there is insecurity.
- If you want more energy I can help you find it.
- If you long to feel lighter I can help you discover a unique way of shedding what no longer serves you; physically AND emotionally.
- If you long to do sleep better I’ve got many (legal – calm your farm) sleepy-time tricks up my sleeve.
- If you’ve got a emotional (think anxiety, depression), digestive (bloating, gas, stomach pains, runny poos, the complete opposite of the latter #theclogs) or autoimmune conditions (allergies, asthma and eczema count too), there’s many recipes and rituals we can use to rebalance the body and encourage remission.
- If you’re after a supermarket excursion, pantry makeover or a crash course in tweaking your favourite comfort recipes so that you can nourish without deprivation … I’m your girl.
When we work together, it’s as a team, but YOU’RE doing the work. YOU are always in the drivers seat. YOU call the shots.
I’m simply here to …
- Get you in touch with WHOLESOME nutrition.
- Bring COMMON SENSE back to daily nourishment.
- Provide innovative recipes that meet your unique needs.
- Share tried and tested kitchen tricks.
- Bring self-care rituals to the table for soul-supporting measure
- And, of course, crack (actual) as many poo jokes as is required to loosen you up (again, actual) and feel comfortable talking about poo. This way we can get your bowels feeling mighty glorious.
What’s with that last one? Well groovy one, when you find a sustainable lifestyle that works for glorious you, it’s amazing how your bowels in turn produce glorious poo. Snaps to the colon.
I’m like your foodie fairy godmother. Bibbity-Bobbity-Poo.
