It warmed my heart when a reader commented on Facebook that her “miss 10” enjoyed my interview with my friend Jo on ‘A Quirky Journey’. It was also very exciting when another reader mentioned that she can’t wait to make my pumpkin pancakes and GAPS muffins for her little ones. This is why I started blogging in the first place.

It’s been ages since I’ve done a GAPS update. I figured one was well overdue! I am up to stage 4 and have been since March 15.
I’m yet to introduce raw veggies and fruit. My body still freaks out if I so much as have too much fibre in the form of avocado, fermented veggies and cooked veggies so I don’t feel ready to introduce raw veggies yet. Thank goodness it’s winter and not really salad weather anyhow.
My Favourite GAPS Muffins
For those of you that didn’t catch it, on Friday I was interviewed by my gorgeous friend Jo from Quirky Cooking on her Podcast ‘A Quirky Journey’. During the show I mentioned my GAPS muffins a few times and actually gave away the recipe. It’s virtually the same as this recipe but made in muffin tins. I use the ‘If You Care’ brand because they aren’t bleached, don’t contain any chemicals and are good for the environment. In SA, Foodland sells them, but I’m sure if you just do a trusty Google search, you’ll find somewhere to purchase them online such as organics on a budget.

Not so stale about kale
It’s been way too long since we last caught up. I’ve just finished my first ever round of uni exams and have been spending every moment (apart from when I’m cooking, sleeping, running and working) studying because that’s what you have to do when you’ve got this much knowledge to consolidate (I’m stretching my arms out far and wide when I say ‘this much’) in this (I am now hovering my pointing finger a millimeter above my thumb) amount of time.

I received feedback the other day from a reader saying that she got excited when she discovered this blog; assuming it was a website dedicated entirely to soup! She was disappointed when she realised that soup, -although having a starring role on this site – is not my sole focus. After all, a blog dedicated entirely to soup sounds like a pretty good idea to me. Maybe I should have thought of that.
I know I manage to weave bone broth and blended vegetable soups into nearly every post, making the name ‘real soup for the real soul’ deliciously appropriate, but it’s usually in relation to a bigger topic such as last-minute meal ideas or GAPS.
Today I’m honouring the name sake of this site with a post dedicated to the ultimate soul food; real soup!
The Creamy Green One
This is a spin off of my cauliflower soup recipe, omitting the fluffy white cauliflower florets for their humble cousin, the vibrantly green broccoli.
It’s a great way to get your greens in when it’s cold and your favorite salads and green smoothie recipes (despite their deliciousness) sound unappealingly chilly.

The Most Amazing Pumpkin Soup in the World
This recipe is so easy it hardly deserves to be called a recipe.
For lack of better word however, I am still calling it a recipe.
There are zillions of pumpkin soup recipes out there calling for a whole host of different ingredients; coconut cream, garlic, ginger, almond milk, herbs and spices.
Quite frankly, I find all you need is a rich broth and some fresh butternut. The result is sweet, creamy and soul-warming.
