I may be a little (and by a little, I mean a lot) guilty of creating routines, becoming overly attached to them and then feeling guilty if I don’t stick to them every. single. day.

Spectacular Soul Saturday: Damian Kristof
I didn’t quite wet myself (but I did come close) when I accompanied my friend Amber to her Chiropractic appointment last Saturday and as we entered the reception area I caught my first (in-the-flesh) glimpse of poo-revearing rockstar, Damian Kristof.
Damo is co-founder of the Wellness Couch with Marcus Pearce, co-host of podcast The Wellness Guys and co-host of podcast 100 not out (again with Marcus Pearce – get a room you two, honestly .. what’s that, it’s called your recording studio. My bad, as you were).
He is also a dedicated naturopath and chiropracter based in Melbourne. He even has his own cereal line called Forage which is putting mainstream cereal companies to absolute shame.

Spectacular Soul Saturday: Lola Berry
Oh. Moi. Gawsh. I am bursting with enthusiasm to share this weeks guest. In fact, I am this close to wetting my pants. Lols was my very first role model in the world of food and is most definitely the ‘Steve Irwin’ of fruits and veggies. She has written three beautiful books; Inspiring ingredients, The 20/20 Diet and The 20/20 Diet Cookbook (and she has a fourth book on the way in 2015 -yes!)
You can track her down on Youtube channel, or website (or Instagram account … search @yummololaberry) and she regularly appears in the media spreading a message of kind, vibrant living.

Spectacular Soul Saturday: Sam Gowing
Today’s guest is Sen-fucking-sational Spa Chef; Sam Gowing.
Sam is working hard to bridge the gap between mainstream and health-based dining, and is Australia’s leading spa chef – designing menu’s for some of the countries top-rating retreats. Not just handy in the kitchen, Sam has a bachelor degree in nutritional medicine and runs the company Gowings: Food. Health. Wealth. If that’s not enough she was a regular presenter on health talks (which I go into more detail about here), which is where I first come across her work in the first place.

Spectacular Soul Saturday: Marcus Pearce
Marcus Pearce is co-founder of podcast channel The Wellness Couch, creator of The Exceptional Life Blueprint, co-host of the whimsical weekly podcast 100 not out, (with Damian Kristoff), has a profound enthusiasm for life and an infectiously happy attitude.

Eating well on a budget
When you overhaul your lifestyle or even make gradual changes, the grocery bill tends to sky-rocket. This is not to have a dig at small, sustainable, organic companies or local organic farmers. The way the market is at the moment, they have no choice but to charge their customers extra to ensure that they themsleves make a profit. It does seem unfair that simply filling your body with wholesome foods costs a small fortune.
It’s not all bad news. There are an increasing number of ways that you can eat local, chemical-free foods without it costing the earth. It may mean some small sacrifices and some habit changes, but the benefits are well worth it. Here are some of my favourite tricks.
Spectacular Soul Saturday
This is the first of a new blog series: Spectacular Soul Saturday. Each week I’ll ask ‘everyday heroes’ for wise tidbits on how to live a glorious life. I doubt I’ll keep this up forever, but for the next little while I’ve got some groovy spud muffins to share with y’all.
I myself am a sucker for Q & A’s, so to kick-start things I’ve interviewed myself*. I’m humble and private like that.
Keep it real Sonny Jims, and have a fan-bloody-tabulous Saturday!
*Update 2018: I have re-jigged my responses to reflect the person I’ve grown into. I needed a bucket when I read my 18-year-old self’s answers. Cute, but cliched and NOT fun. The humour and candid bowel-health promotion was missing, so I rectified things a little.
Serve Me A Suggestion
I love food (if that isn’t obvious already)!
I also love spending time in the kitchen experimenting or simply whipping up classic favourites.
However … there are times when I’m just not in the mood to cook (I can be very impatient when I’m hungry) and just want something fast and delicious.
That is where I love serving suggestions. Not in the sense of processed packaged pseudo-foods or microwave dinners, but rather where you just combine a few, fresh, tasty ingredients to create the most amazing flavour combinations with impressive nutritional profiles.
Let me share with you some of the ‘serving suggestions’ that I have been loving lately.

You know the buzz in the wellnessphere around ‘superfoods’ such as the kick-ass kale plant or quinoa (‘queen’ of the grains … or seeds if you want to get technical)? If foods were supermodels and graced the cover of vogue then you’d probably be confronted with pictures of a naked kale stalks slathered sexily in coconut oil (raunchy by plant standards), as you navigated the magazine selection of your newsagency. Well I think it’s confession time, brace yourselves!
