It’s been a busy, busy August! Semseter 2 has started at College (and lecture content is a wee bit complicated thus far), I volunteered at The Wellness Summit and (most importantly) I travelled up to the Sunny Coast for my Twenty8 Health and Lifestyle Educator Program Graduation!!!!!!!!! That’s too many exclamation marks, isn’t it?

Spectacular Soul Saturday: Kimi Hill
This week I’d like to share the insights of blogger Kimi Hill, author of www.sunandmoon.me. I don’t know Kimi personally, but she approached me after hearing my interview on Up for a Chat and asked me to do an interview for her website.
I decided to return the interview favour and here we are. Kimi is a driven young lady with a beautifully sensitive and creative streak.
Meet Kimi …
Health isn’t a “trend”
Does it bother anyone else out there that health, wellness, well-being, nutrition, mindfulness, Paleo, vegan, GAPS, gluten-free, sugar-free, (and all the other common buzz words etc.) have become a trend? Or is it just me?
Don’t get me wrong. The real food movement is exciting! People getting excited about fruits and veggies is encouraging! The public is starting to explore and ask questions. I am thrilled about this! In fact, health being ‘trendy’ has many, many advantages.
Thai green chicken soup
This soup is seriously good and a nice break from the regular appearances of pumpkin and cauliflower soup that tend to share the starring role in my kitchen. My mum (a non GAPS taste-tester I might add) had several soup-gasms whilst devouring this creamy bowl of yumminess.
Spectacular Soul Saturday: Simone Butchard
Meet my honorary ‘big sis’ Simo! A ray of sunshine who lives according to my favourite proverb;
“Thousands of candles can be lighted from a single candle, and the life of the candle will not be shortened. Happiness never decreases by being shared” – Attributed to the Buddha (c.563 BC – c.483 BC)
After finishing reading her candid and optimistic answers you’ll likely feel driven to check out her website which is bursting full of life – the biophilia practically jumps through your screen!
I’m near certain you’ll love her as much as I do,
Meet Simo …
What makes the difference?
I was recently asked this question by someone I really admire. She asked me what made the difference between the way I approach life and the way a lot of other people my age approach it. She wasn’t asking in a way that put me on a pedestal (thank goodness because that would be mis-leading … I really am just the ‘girl next door’), but rather curious about why I am pro-active when it comes to my health and education. How do I know what I know at my age? Why am I empowered rather than playing the victim? Why do I question things? How is it that I am so content in being different when most teenagers just want to ‘fit in’?
And now something for the kiddlets
It warmed my heart when a reader commented on Facebook that her “miss 10” enjoyed my interview with my friend Jo on ‘A Quirky Journey’. It was also very exciting when another reader mentioned that she can’t wait to make my pumpkin pancakes and GAPS muffins for her little ones. This is why I started blogging in the first place.
“Buck-weet-bix”
In middle school I was an absolute sucker for crushed weet-bix, hot milk and a sprinkle of brown sugar – especially on cold mornings.
I avoided weet-bix like the plague throughout primary school, knowing that all cereals (bar baby rice cereal … which I happily enjoyed until the age of 7 when Mamma T decided I was too old for “baby food”) made me feel nutritionally violated. Somehow in middle school, I temporarily lost this intuition and became seduced by the aforementioned warming, sweet and creamy wheat-based combo.
My day on a (GAPS) plate
Oh hello there. You’ve found some very old content. Please read the disclaimer on this page before thinking I’m still a total sheep who has been sucked into a bone-broth worshipping fad diet. Been there, learned from that and am now a much less rigid human.
It’s been ages since I’ve done a GAPS update. I figured one was well overdue! I am up to stage 4 and have been since March 15.
I’m yet to introduce raw veggies and fruit. My body still freaks out if I so much as have too much fibre in the form of avocado, fermented veggies and cooked veggies so I don’t feel ready to introduce raw veggies yet. Thank goodness it’s winter and not really salad weather anyhow.
