In my last post<\/a>\u00a0I talked about how in February 2012 I started making tiny changes to my diet – barely even noticable. I did this becuase I wanted to and was eager to nourish myself. There were no expectations or ‘rules’ as such that I lived up to. It was just shifting and changing as I went, the ultimate goal to feel thriving and happy.<\/p>\n

May I point out that this was before the days where I listened to podcasts or read blogs. I really was just using my common sense at this point and was starting to doubt health magazines more and more. I remember starting to notice a difference in my mood and energy when I ate wheat – it wasn’t a good difference. There was no resource telling me that gluten-free was trendy or that gluten-containing grains affected the immune system. It was just something I intuitively picked up on.<\/p>\n

I didn’t drop gluten, give up bread or even cereal, but I did reduce my quantities of them, and would aim to choose rice, extra veggies or a serving of something like nuts or yoghurt to bulk out a meal more often than I chose a slice of bread. I don’t think I ate regular pasta ever again after this month – the lethargy, mood swings and uncomfortable feeling in my abdomen wasn’t worth it!<\/p>\n

I was still, at this point, convinced that I needn’t give up wheat entirely, but was committed to eating less overall.<\/p>\n

Tip #3 for transitioning to whole foods …<\/strong><\/p>\n

Make decisions based on how you feel. Stop reading and listening for a while. Stop looking for things to cut out and instead, focus on goodies things to bring in<\/em>. Choose foods that make you feel effing snazzy!
